What is coco 3?

The Coco 3 (Color Computer 3) was a home computer released by Tandy Corporation in 1986 as a successor to the Coco 2. It featured a Motorola 6809E processor running at 1.79 MHz, 128 KB of RAM (expandable to 512 KB), and a redesigned keyboard with improved ergonomics.

The Coco 3's graphical capabilities were significantly improved from its predecessor, with a new 16-color palette and a resolution of up to 640x192 pixels. It also had three built-in sound channels, enabling more sophisticated sound effects and music.

The Coco 3 was designed with backwards compatibility in mind, meaning that software developed for the Coco 1 and 2 could still be run on the newer machine. It also featured a cartridge slot for expansion, as well as two joystick ports and a high-speed serial port.

Despite improvements, the Coco 3's release was somewhat overshadowed by the rise of more powerful and popular home computers like the Commodore Amiga and IBM PC. Nonetheless, it retained a dedicated following among hobbyists and enthusiasts and is still remembered as a significant machine in the history of home computing.
